Jakarta, July 19, 2026 – The spirit of building cooperatives closer to the younger generation was evident in the Gen Coop Run 5K, part of a series of events commemorating the 79th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas). Held on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, Jakarta, the Sahabat Mitra Sejati Savings and Loan Cooperative (KSP) participated in the event to support efforts to strengthen regeneration and collaboration within the Indonesian cooperative movement.
The Gen Coop Run was attended by approximately 2,300 participants, including members of cooperatives, ministries and institutions, running communities, and the general public. The event was also attended by the Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Ferry Juliantono, and the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung.
In his remarks, Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, stated that the Gen Coop Run is part of an effort to present a new face for the cooperative movement: healthier, more inclusive, and closer to the community. Through activities that combine sports and community, cooperatives are expected to gain greater recognition as an economic movement capable of keeping up with current developments while attracting the interest of the younger generation.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his appreciation for the Gen Coop Run, which he considered a novel approach to commemorating National Cooperative Day. He stated that the event demonstrated that cooperatives can foster positive interactions with the community through healthy, participatory activities.
KSP Sahabat Mitra Sejati, represented by Luqmanul Hakim, Government Relations Officer, considered the Gen Coop Run a momentum to strengthen ties between cooperative movements and strengthen synergy with the government in encouraging cooperative regeneration.
“The Gen Coop Run demonstrates that cooperatives can engage more closely with the community, especially Generation Z. This is not just a sporting event, but a platform to introduce cooperatives as a modern, collaborative economic movement, grounded in the spirit of cooperation,” said Luqmanul.
He believes that the involvement of the younger generation is crucial for maintaining the sustainability of the cooperative movement in Indonesia. Through activities like the Gen Coop Run, cooperatives can build a more relevant image and expand community participation.
KSP Sahabat Mitra Sejati’s participation in the Gen Coop Run 2026 is part of its commitment to continue supporting the strengthening of the cooperative movement through collaboration, innovation, and the involvement of the younger generation as the successors of Indonesian cooperatives.
